Admissions - How to Apply to MTI
MTI does not require you to submit an ACT or SAT score, just a high school diploma or equivalent, like a GED. To enroll at MTI takes just 3 easy steps:

Take a campus tour to explore all of MTI鈥檚 programs and see where you鈥檇 receive your hands-on training.
Step 2
Meet one-on-one with the Financial Aid Team to explore your options for financial aid鈥n 2023, 92% of MTI students received some form of financial aid!*
Step 3
Once you choose your program and start date, you鈥檒l save your seat and enroll!

We know finances are a major factor in your decision of what to do after high school. Part of the enrollment process at MTI is to meet one-on-one with a member of the Financial Aid Team who will help you explore what financial aid you may qualify for.

MTI's High School Scholarship
MTI鈥檚 High School Scholarship is not academic based, but instead awards students who demonstrate a passion for learning a skilled trade. Scholarship amounts vary. Over the last decade, we鈥檝e awarded over $5 million in MTI scholarships!

In 2026, MTI awarded 92 high school seniors across Illinois and Missouri a total of聽$305,000聽in MTI scholarship funds this year. Award amounts ranged from聽$2,000 to $10,000!
High School Welding Competition
MTI鈥檚 High School Welding Competition is for seniors who want to pursue a career in the welding industry after high school. The competition is invite-only and open to all skill levels. All participants in the competition will receive a $500 MTI scholarship! Top scholarship prizes go to first, second, and third place winners.
